This is the second year that I participated in the National Capital Area Cake Show in Annandale, Virginia and I have to say, each year it get’s better. I learned so much from all who entered and it’s a fun opportunity to shop for cake tools, supplies, ingredients and take classes to improve your skills as a cake designer. I entered the Semi-professional novelty-tiered catargory and won second place for my hat box cake. My cake inspiration came to me while thinking of a way to incorporate painting on the cake. This is the first time I have attempted this and the judges loved it the most. I was blown away it all came together and I am so honored to have taken part in such an amazing event.

I have a lot of practicing to do!
On the other hand, it was my first time painting with food coloring too and these roses turned out great.
